One day in Canggu
Driving from Seminyak to Canggu is best left to the professionals. Understanding the flow of traffic and the sheer number of cars, scooters, trucks etc on the road is best left to the people who travel this route every day. Hiring a driver for the day, allows you to focus on the amazing scenery unfolding around you. You have the added bonus of being able to stop and explore on a whim.
Canggu is a beach area in south Bali, north of Seminyak. Blink and you might just miss this dreamy, beachside village on the verge of going mainstream, with its maze of cool hangouts and health food cafés.
Surf’s Up
Canggu is known for its surf beaches. Old Man’s/ Batu Bolong is considered the easiest of the three spots in Canggu to surf. It is a black lava sand beach, and when standing in front of the Old Man’s restaurant you will be looking out at the spot called Old Man’s. Just to the left of this spot is Batu Bolong. Most beaches have board rentals and surf schools.

Tanah Lot Temple
No visit to Canggu is complete without a stop at Tanah Lot Temple which is a traditional Balinese temple located on a small, rocky island offering great water views. Be prepared to be jostled by all the tourists at sunset, it gets a little crazy. We chose to go in the morning and it was really beautiful.

Kopi Luwak
When traveling to Bali it’s a must to try Kopi Luwak coffee at least once. Kopi luwak coffee aka poop from a Civet is one of the most expensive coffees in the world which originated in Bali. On the way to Tanah Lot Temple, there are little plantations which offer a small tour of the “process” followed by a free tea and coffee tasting. You usually have to pay for the Luwak coffee.

Time Out
Back in Canggu, a visit to one of the spa’s is a must, we arrived at Spring Spa www.springspa.com for a couples massage and were not disappointed, once inside the spa, you are removed from all the hustle and bustle of the traffic and people. The space is very serene and calming and the treatment rooms are spacious and bright.

Coffee Break
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to cafes. Our lunch choice was at Café Vida, https://cafe-vida-bali.business.site an organic restaurant and boutique espresso coffee shop located in the heart of Canggu. Their smoothie bowls are a work of art.

This area has much to offer and next time, I would prefer to stay a few days and experience more but on this occasion, we made the most out of our day.
